Tacolneston switched over to Digital today, bringing in HD to those who receive their TV from this transmitter and it's relays. As a result, now the whole of the Anglia TV Region will be fully Digital
Not much will happen now until February 2012, when the next and final wave of the Digital Switchover starts, culminating in Northern Ireland in October.

Digital UK announced today when the final three transmitters are to be switched over to digital and the final analogue transmission to cease
Brougher Mountain, Divis & Limivady in Northern Ireland will be the last area to switch and they will complete on24 October 2012

IMPORTANT: Sony is offering free safety inspection on several of its Bravia TV models after reports in Japan that a number of sets started smoking. The company warned that a component used in eight different versions of its Bravia televisions may be faulty and in rare cases could overheat.
Sony said that anyone who was concerned could request an engineer come to their home for free to inspect their TV.
The models affected - LCDs, sold in Europe since June 2007.
Model numbers: KDL-40D3400, KDL-40D3500, KDL-40D3550, KDL-40D3660, KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40X3000, KDL-40X3500.
Sony said that the televisions were not at risk while they were switched off. But warned owners to be aware of any unusual noises, smells or smoking coming from their Bravia.
Anyone noticing these symptoms should unplug the TV and stop using the set immediately, said a Sony statement.

Oxford transmitter and relays switched to digital today. Now the whole Central TV Region is completed. You now have digital and HD services - no more analog

Emley Moor transmitter and relays switched to digital today. Now that this transmitter is switched the whole Yorkshire TV Region is now digital and HD and completed.
Also the Fenton and Sutton Coldfield transmitters in the Central TV Region and their related relays switched over to digital today -now they too can experience glorious HD.

Retune required today for viewers watching Sandy Heath and Hemel Hempstead transmitters.
Also a retune for Oxfordshire, parts of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire as the Oxford Transmitter Group's first stage of the switchover gets underway today.

Waltham transmitter and its related relays in the Central TV area switched to digital today. Please note: If you live in this area you will have retune your Freeview equipment, to continue receiving all the channels, including the new HD ones.
There are two more dates you will have to keep in mind:
Derby & Stanton Moor relays: 5 October 2011
Waltham main transmitter: 12 October 2011

For those living in the area of the relays and main transmitter a further retune will be necessary on these dates.

Sheffield and Chesterfield transmitters and their related relays in the Yorkshire TV area switch to digital today. Sheffield transmitter was completed by lunchtime and Chesterfield should be completed by mid-afternoon. Today also is the start of the switchover (Stage 1) for the Waltham transmitter in the Central TV region. A retune will be necessary to continue receiving BBC2

Sudbury transmitter and its relays switched over to digital today. For the first time in that area you are able to receive Freeview HD if you have the necessary equipment to receive it, such as a HD TV and a Freeview HD Digital Receiver

Black Hill transmitter and it's related relays switched to digital and completed by mid afternoon. The Black Hill transmitter was HD enabled in February 2010 prior to the scheduled digital switch.
Today is also special for Scotland and the STV Central Region, because the whole of Scotland is now a Digital Nation and can receive HD transmissions. So as regards the Digital Switchover, Scotland has joined Wales as completed Digital Nations
Please note: As with other switchovers, those living in that area must retune their Freeview equipment in order to continue receiving all of the channels.

3D comes to Freeview HD for Wimbledon 2011
The BBC has announced that the 125th Wimbledon finals will be broadcast in 3D - only on the BBC HD channel this summer. If you have a Freeview 3D HDTV you will be able to watch this special sporting event in glorious HD and 3D. Additionally it is subscription free

TeleG the Gaelic channel will be replaced with the new Gaelic channel called BBC Alba on Freeview this will change over on the 8th June 2011. This is only applicable to those living in Scotland. However it will have an impact on coverage for the BBC radio channels on Freeview in Scotland. Below is a quote from the BBC website:
"Due to a lack of bandwidth, many of the corporation's radio stations will go off air when BBC Alba is broadcasting - but not 1 Extra, 5 Live and 6 Music"

Darvel and Roseneath Transmitters and their relays in the STV Central TV area have been switched to digital today and from now on will be able to receive HD transmission on their Freeview HD equipment. Update on BT Vision an HD. They are one step nearer to providing HD on the BT Vision Box. At present you can only get HD through the "On Demand" section of the Vision Box. Many people have been asking: when will we get Freeview in HD? as at present it only has a standard Freeview receiver built in. See the update in the Frequently asked questions section of this site.

Bromsgrove, Lark Stoke and The Wrekin Transmitters (and relays) who switched over to digital in April 2011 will have further changes on 28th September 2011. So if you receive your TV transmissions from any of these, you will need to retune your equipment later that day.

Today in the Central TV region, the Bromsgrove, Lark Stoke, Ridge Hill and The Wrekin transmitters and their relays switched to Digital and HD (High Definition).

Today the Sandy Heath (Anglia TV) and the Nottingham (Central TV) transmitters and their subsequent Relays switched over to Digital transmissions only. Also from today in these areas HD (high definition) will be available for the first time. Enjoy your new services. Don't forget to retune your TV or Digital Box (applies to these areas only).
In some parts of these switchover areas HD may not be enabled until later in the day.
Don't forget: If you live in the Waltham Transmitter (Central TV) area you will need to rescan your Freeview equipment today, in preparation for your switch that is due on 31st August 2011.

In preparation for the Digital Switchover, those who receive their Freeview TV from the Waltham Transmitter (Central TV Region) will need to retune their Freeview, Top Up TV or BT Vision Boxes on these two dates:
30/03/2011 done you should have done this already. The next retune for this area is on 13/04/2011 done
There are changes that need to be done ahead of your actual switchover and you will need to retune in order to continue receiving the Freeview service

Fiver has now been re-branded as 5* (star). The channel number remains the same at 30

Some changes occurred on 28 February to the Freeview lineup. Sky 3 has been re-branded to Pick TV showcasing some material from Sky 1 and Sky Arts. The channel numbers remain the same.
In our opinion it is showing much the same material under a new name, by renaming it it has lost its identity -
TV Digital Info
New channel called Daystar (channel 47), broadcasting 5am-8am - religious based with other material as well. Channel One has also been renamed - now called Challenge TV
TMTV the Adult channel has been re-branded as well - now called Blue
There is still no news on channel 45 which is still labeled TBA on the channel list

Digital UK has now provided the dates of the following Transmitter Groups Hannington, Midhurst Rowridge and Whitehawk Hill in the Meridian TV area. They will start from 8th February 2012. As each Group completes HD will be switched on as well. See the Meridian Group dates or dates for the whole of the UK

Digital UK (the organisation leading the digital switchover) announced today that the Meridian TV area will commence the Digital Switchover starting February 2012. We already knew that it was to be 2012 but not which quarter. The actual dates will follow later this year

In preparation for the digital switchover in 2012 the Dover Transmitter will under go some modifications from Midnight (25th) and will be finished by 6.00am. Don't forget to retune your Freeview equipment from after 6.00am on 26th January 2011. This retune is only for those who receive signals from the Dover Transmitter

The long awaited addition to the Freeview lineup has a date: 11/01/2011 when ITV1+1 will be launched on Freeview. To achieve this they are moving ITV2+1 from channel 33, putting ITV1+1 in it's place and ITV2+1 will be moved to channel 27.
