Freeview HD launched 2nd December. To date however there are no set-top boxes or TV's available that have the technology to receive it.
On the bright side they should be available before christmas. The first service to launch is BBC HD, others will follow spring 2010. As soon as we hear of them we will publish it on this site.

The BBC has given details of the roll-out of Freeview HD. Starting on 2nd December the Winter Hill transmitter in the Granada region and the Crystal Palace transmitter in London will be installed and switched on.

Sky has made changes today to their pricing. It is not all bad though. One major change has been to their Packages which have been consolidated from 8 to 6 packs - these are known as Entertainment Packages which include Children's, Knowledge, Music, News & Events, Style & Culture and Variety packs.
The Sky Movies and the Sky Sports are now called Premier Packages including Sky Sports 1/2 and Sky Movies 1/2.

Teletext is being retired on at the end of December to make way for extra bandwidth for the HD services.

More changes to Freeview. We have noticed that Channel 21, the TMF music channel is gone. VIVA a music and entertainment channel replaces it.

Price-Drop-TV is back on Freeview channel 43 and Big Deal is moving to channel 32

ESPN is now available on Tiscali. If you sign up now you will get this sports channel for just 1p until 30 September 2009. From 1 October 2009 it will rise to the regular fee of £9.99 per month (click here)

ESPN will now be available on Topup TV for £9.99 per month. The ESPN Sports channel replaces the now obsolete Satanta. Please note there is an additional setup fee of £20 for new customers (click here)

Freeview rescan - 30 September 2009. Rescan your digital box as the freeview channels will be re-shuffled in preparation for HD. Channels particularly affected will be C5 and C4 as they will be switched to another multiplex. C5's UK coverage will increase as a result of the changes (click here)

After the previous unsuccessful launch date of Quest TV from Discovery it is now set to be launched on Freeview (channel 47) at end September 2009. Let's hopes it make the deadline this time! (click here)
