Freeview Services through your aerial, HD coming soon and for the price of a digital box

Standard Box
These come with a built-in 7-day listings menu, just like the "TV Times" or other TV magazine, along with a brief description of each programme. In the UK you can get over 48 TV channels, 24 Radio Stations, and shopping channels.
They come either one or two SCART connectors on the back and with a remote control and other connection cables 1

with built-in Recorder
In addition to the 'Standard Freeview Box' (see above) this unit has the additional facility to record, either to a built-in HDD (Hard Disk Drive) a DVD Recorder or both. Where there is a DVD and a HDD the programme is recorded onto the HDD, then, if required, can be transferred to a recordable or re-recordable DVD disk that has been placed into the tray. 2
Both types also have the facility to go to the 'listings' or 'guide' menu, also known as an EPG (electronic programme guide), an 8 day on-screen TV Guide to select a programme you want to record at the press of a single button. You can also select in the 'timers' menu if you require the programme recording to be repeated 'daily', 'weekly' or 'monthly'. 3
Again these Freeview Recorders come with all the necessary remote control, cables and either one or two SCART connectors on the back of the unit. 1

HD or High Definition Freeview is here in the UK now (February 2010). Initially only two regions will broadcast HD and others will be changed over the next two years - see our HD page for further details. Only four HD channels at first, but this will gradually increase, after the last of the analogue transmissions are switched off in 2012. 4
You will need a new Freeview HD or HD Ready TV or a new Freeview HD Box - which are now filtering through.
Include will be the cables and remote control and either one or two SCART connectors on the back. 2

Television with built-in Freeview
